Feeling Beachy in Portugal

After the wonderful 2 and a half weeks I spent in Morocco, it was time for a relaxing week in Portugal where I was meeting up with my friend Conor from Australia. I had always heard how gorgeous Lagos, Portugal was from a couple friends but didn’t believe it until I got there. First stop was Lisbon and unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to explore the city as much as I wanted to. Lisbon was absolutely incredible and such a walkable city! While I only had one day there, I spent the majority of the day walking around to different parts of the city. During my walk, I walked through the Parque Eduardo where they were having a Portuguese book fair, down to the Columbus Pier where I watched the waves crash and admire the city from the oceanfront. After walking a couple miles, I decided to climb up the hill to check out the Castelo Sao Jorge.

The Castelo Sao Jorge was gorgeous and provided a great view of Lisbon. This Castle was built in the 11th century and was destroyed in 1755 by a very powerful earthquake that hit Lisbon. It was awesome to walk around and see what was left of the castle and learn a little bit about the Portuguese history.

After a great day of exploring Lisbon and promising myself to come back to explore more of this beautiful city with friends, I hoped on a bus to Lagos to soak up some sun and even out my Moroccan tan. While I only had 4 days in Lagos, I spent most of those days sunbathing on the beach, trying to get in shape for my bike ride coming up and eating a lot of food with Conor! I did not do too much exploring around Lagos except by foot. In the mornings on my morning runs, I would run around and admire the cliffs out in the ocean and at night I would walk around the town that was filled with tourists. It was a fun couple of days to relax and go out with a good friend after the crazy three weeks I had in Morocco!

Next stop, Germany to meet up with my high school best friend, Caroline who recently moved there! Munich, here I come!

  1. What a beach bum! If you are going to continue touring the world, you have a responsibility to your readers to eat great food and describe it, drink great wines and describe them, see the paintings and cathedrals and castles and describe them…etc. Taking time for relaxation just makes me jealous without learning anything new!
